DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
(Established in 1987 – Reaching the Twenty-Second Milestone)
The Department of Environment Management (DEM) was established under the able leadership of Prof. Dr. A.D. Shinde in the year 1987. The main purpose to establish the Department was to conduct Post Graduate Course, Practicals, Research activities and Consultancy work and moreover, it was firmly believed that without inculcating scientific approach environmental problems couldn’t be managed. On 26th May 1995, the Institute was granted the status of an ‘Autonomous Institute’ by the Shivaji University in concurrence of the Government of Maharashtra & UGC. In 2005, the DEM was provided grants by the UGC, New Delhi, under the Innovative Programmes to start the One-Year Full Time Post Graduate Diploma in Environment Management (PGDEM) Course.
