PAPER SETTING:

Question Papers are set only by the setters who are on the approved panel. Copy of syllabus and copy of one previous paper as specimen copy is supplied to these setters and are requested to set the question papers. They are paid remuneration for paper setting immediately. One set of question paper is set by internal paper setter and Two sets are set by external paper setter. Internal paper setter is paid his remuneration immediately. Then chairman of the subject reads the question papers and certifies that they are as per syllabus. Controller picks any one of the sets at random and gets printed in the department only. These question papers are kept in the sealed packets in the cupboard under lock and key till the date of examination in the department.
Papers are set by qualified and experienced persons who are on the approved panel. This panel is periodically revised and updated.


PROCESS OF ASSESSMENT:
  • CODING AND MASKING:

    Utmost level of confidentiality and secrecy is observed during the entire examination process. At the end of the examination session answer books are collected and handed over to Sr. Supervisor along with the Supervisors Report and Supplement Report. Sr. Supervisor checks and hands over these answer books to the examination department. Then code numbers are given to the answer books and immediately masked the student seat numbers and given for the assessment. Answer books once evaluated by one examiner (external or internal) and masked these marks and papers given to the second assessment. Thus identity of candidate as well as how much marks are given by first assessor are not disclosed at these stages. Tick marks will not be made inside the answer books while evaluating the papers.
  • CENTRAL ASSESSMENT OF ANSWER BOOKS:

    Answer Books are assessed in three stages:
    I. Internal Assessment
    II. External Assessment.
    III. Third Assessment (if required)

Internal Assessment:

It is done by the experienced internal faculties of the Institute (5 years teaching experience). They are also given only 60 answer books per day for assessment. Remuneration for assessment is paid as per Shivaji University Rules.

External Assessment:

The assessors are from approved panel of examiners, from different Universities, Institutes, P.G. Colleges and are invited for Central Assessment of Answer books in the Department of Examination. Answer Books are not given outside for assessment. Assessors are provided T.A., D.A. Conveyance, Lodging and Boarding Snacks and Tea while assessment is in the process. Remuneration for answer book assessment is paid in addition to the above charges, as per University Rules. All payments made immediately on cash basis. Only 60 papers are allowed to be assessed per day for maintaining quality in the assessment.

Third Assessment:

If there is more than 20% difference between marks given by the two different examiners (Internal and External), then such answer books will be evaluated by Third Examiner. The nearest (Greater) marks will be considered, for further processing. After the process is over Ledger of the results is prepared and sent to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur for issue of degree certificate.
